Volunteer Guide

Responsibilities: As a volunteer guide you will rotate between two stations: 1) Information desk and 2) four outdoor seawater tanks. Your training will allow you to give interesting information to visitors about our resident sea turtles, sharks, rays and a variety of other inhabitants of our mangrove and coral reef tanks. Further duties include greeting and directing visitors, answering the phone and handling program and membership registrations.

Qualifications: You must be flexible, friendly and willing to greet visitors and make them feel welcome; you must be able to educate visitors about South Florida's natural history and have the ability to work outdoors.

School Program Assistant

Responsibilities: 1) Assist the Program Interpreters with school classes during the school year and summer camps durng the summer 2) Help with crowd control and answer questions. 3) Assist with hands-on activities and lab rotations

Qualifications: 1) Experience working with children 2) The ability to modify teaching methods to the appropriate age group 3) Should be friendly and enjoy interacting with children

Gift Shop

Responsibilities: Operate the cash register, organize, price and stock merchandise.

Qualifications: Must be friendly and able to handle basic sales transactions.

Green Thumb Club

Responsibilities: Help maintain our living display of butterfly plants, native plants and herbs. Duties include maintenance of our container garden: watering, mulching, weeding and transplanting.

Qualifications: A green thumb! Tolerance for the outdoors.
